Local maid charged with 25 felonies for stealing checks from Greenwood senior

A local house cleaner was arrested on multiple felony charges after police say she stole, forged and cashed several checks from a 72-year-old Greenwood woman, totaling over $9,000.

According to the Delaware State Police Department, the forgery and theft began in December when 39-year-old Jodi L. Wright, of Felton, was hired to clean a house in the 9000 block of Blacksmith Shop Road.

In March, the victim noticed suspicious activity on her bank account and discovered 25 fraudulent transactions over a period of more than three months in which checks were cashed, totaling $9,200.

On Friday, Wright was arrested and charged with Identity Theft, Theft Under $1,500 (Victim 62 years of age or older), 25 Counts of 2nd Degree Forgery and Theft by False Pretense Over $1,500. She was arraigned and released on $128,000 unsecured bond.
