NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Denzel Washington was arrested early Wednesday morning and charged with eight crimes. He was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.

To be clear, it was Denzel Jermaine Washington of Bonds Wilson Avenue in North Charleston that was arrested, not the actor known for films like Training Day, Glory and Remember the Titans.

According to an incident report, it all started when an officer patrolling the area of Remount Road clocked a vehicle going 80 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Officials say the 2016 Ford Fusion pulled into a driveway on Saxon Street. The driver was reportedly trying to turn around but then drove into the backyard of the address and crashed into tree, the report states.

Police say they caught Washington in the woods about 100 yards from the vehicle.

Inside the car, officers say they found about 41.4 grams of cocaine; 22.6 grams of crack; a joint and a Glock 9mm with 17 rounds in the clip and one in the chamber.

Officers say it was also discovered Washington was driving with a suspended license.

He's been charged with the following:

-    Reckless driving

-    Failure to render aid/provide info
